We made a 1-call for safety. We wanted to know what underground pipelines and utilities we were working with. To make sure we wouldn’t hit anything. We put up signs for road construction in advance to inform people of upcoming road construction. Started the 7.5-mile county road shoulder extension job. We removed 3-4 inches of soil from the edge of the paved road on both sides. Prepared subgrade. Then, the appropriate material(Road Base) was brought in. We laid a road base on both sides of the county roads. From the edge of county road extending 8ft onto county ROW. 3 inches of depth. Watered, packed (rolled) material down, and proof-rolled it before the compaction test. We had to close one traffic lane for this job. So we put up traffic signs and cones accordingly and guided traffic through with a pilot car during the duration of the job. We had a trash/portapody trailer rented to ensure all trash and materials were cleaned up before returning the site to Andrews County.
